SCHOOL OF NEW EARTH

C.LETS BUILD A HOME

110

WHAT WOULD YOU CREATE IF YOU COULD CREATE ANYTHING?

There are so many ways to create extraordinary homes. It really is up to our imaginations. Each individual can create whatever they would love to experience. In this way everyone is able to:

a) Learn how to become masterful in building ur own home if this is ur desire. Or enjoy the process of designing ur vision with an architect and co-creating with a team of builders. The choice is always urs.

b) Individually we can enjoy co-contributing to an amazing arrangement of diversity, which will create a noble and free community (as magical as any George Lucas Production) – with winding paths and madeup structures and innovative lighting and beautiful gardens.

It maybe something to consider that the first round of above-ground homes may not be permanent as the climate changes – but the foundations, the practice and the natural design will place us well in the days to come. Of course working in alignment with the environment dramatically decreases the costs of creating wonderful homes.

THE LIBRARY

This is a place where the community can collectively pool their resources, knowledge and information in the form of a beautiful library. As not one of us has all the answers but as individuals coming together we would have many, it is appropriate to bring these understandings together in a shared environment – so that everyone has access to all knowledge. We have all gone through this lifetime following our individual pursuits and interests and as a result gathered information specific to what we have been interested in. As a community those individual interests would create a spectacular library of great diversity. It is also appropriate that information pertaining to the construction and creation of the infrastructure of S.O.N.E be available to all.

THE DRIVE-IN

Imagine sitting in deck chairs and watching David Attenborough films under the stars. With gentle tealights and paper lanterns flickering around the enclosure as children run home-made popcorn stands alongside the campfire.  This is an aspect of living alongside nature that would be most enjoyable.

Let us all learn from the pig who built his home out of earth and survived the big bad wolf.

*Lights up a non-existant smoke.* This is nice, however for inspiration you may want to look at what your requirements are first, then go backwards from there. Firstly there’s the need to be out of the wind as far as human beings go, so walls or being underground works, then you need water, so atmospheric water generation is good as it won’t run out. To make that happen though, you need power and solar is plentiful. (If the sun’s not enough, there’s this bike I have…) Heating is effected by windows, so you need to take a split under/above ground set-up into consideration. (The windows underground wouldn’t be much good… unless you can see in the dark and like dirt.) That’s just a few pointers. A.G.

WONDERFUL Kelly! these pictures evoke the inspiration I feel for creating an intentional community ideally off the grid and near a hot spring. Permaculture definetely a part of the picture – social, econmic, environmental solution. I ‘ve been conjuring this vision for a few years. Maybe start a NING Social network for this just a suggestion. 🙂
